- If possible, collect the filling, crown, inlay or onlay that has come out – whether in a single form or in pieces.
- If you have dental cement, adhesive or petroleum jelly, try putting back the restoration with it after cleaning it thoroughly from the inside.
- You can apply tooth cement directly on your tooth instead of the inner layer of the crown or cap. It will protect your teeth for the time being.

The dentist has all tools available to replace or put back the restoration that came out. If you take the existing one with you, the procedure can be performed immediately. Else, the treatment may take long. This applies to both fillings and crowns/onlays/inlays.
In case of a filing, if you manage to give the one that came out, it can be easily repaired and put back on the same day. Even a crown, inlay or onlay can be restructured, cleaned and recemented on your teeth prominently on the same day provided you can give the existing one.
